Stain Removing tricks - You are not a pro and you want to remove a stain after spill its very easy you can use your home made stain remover.

Beer - Rub the beer lightly into the material, and the stain should disappear if they don't you may have to repeat the process until they disappear. This trick works well on Tea or Coffee stains.

Vinegar -  Rub light carpet stains with a mixture of 2 tablespoons salt dissolved in 1/2 cup white vinegar. Let the solution dry, then vacuum. For tougher stains mix vinegar with cornstarch and rub gently using a dried cloth, leave for two days an then vacuum.

Simply buy an upholstery stain remover from your local shop, they are readily available from shops like Pick 'n Pay, Shoprite and Spar. Important always test is if it doesn't remove colour before you use it on a large area.

Other General tricks for spot removing

1. Soak red wine stains in white wine, then cover the stain with a thick baking soda paste. Let it sit a few hours, then wash as usual.

2. Remove white deodorant marks from a garment by gently rubbing the protective foam used on dry-cleaning hangers against the fabric.

3. If you get an oil stain on leather, coat the mark with baby powder and let it stand overnight. By morning, the stain should be gone. If a bit still remains, repeat the process until the stain is completely gone.

4. Use shaving cream and a washcloth to remove liquid makeup from shirt collars.
